ANSSAwas represented by its IT Director, Mr. Shehu Adamu, at a meeting organised by the Institute of Islamic Thought (IDE) with international student communities and association leaders in Ankara.
The meeting, held ahead of the new academic year, brought together representatives of international student communities and associations to discuss issues concerning international students pursuing higher education in Türkiye.
During the programme, participants exchanged views on the academic, intellectual and social experiences of international students. Particular attention was given to IDE’s International Thinkers Programme and other academic and intellectual activities designed to support international students and encourage meaningful engagement with ideas, knowledge and scholarship.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for representatives to share their perspectives and make suggestions regarding future activities and initiatives that could further benefit international students.
At the conclusion of the programme, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez, President of IDE, emphasised the importance of international students maintaining their identities, values and civilisational perspectives throughout their educational journeys while acquiring knowledge and expertise.
He reflected on the contributions of students who studied abroad and later returned to serve their societies, noting the importance of combining quality education with a strong sense of identity and responsibility to one’s community.
Speaking on behalf of ANSSA, Mr. Shehu Adamu’s participation reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to engaging with relevant institutions, representing the interests of Nigerian students in Ankara, and contributing to initiatives that promote academic excellence, intellectual development and the welfare of international students.
ANSSA looks forward to continued engagement with IDE and other relevant institutions in strengthening opportunities and support for Nigerian and international students in Türkiye.
